Paul Wright is an artist of uncommon accomplishment and talent who is enjoying ever growing success internationally. Born in Leicester in 1973, Paul trained as an Illustrator at Falmouth School of Art.  He has developed a painterly language through which he seeks to capture a vitality beyond the establishment of a mere ‘likeness’ to the subject.

"Whilst I appreciate the importance of the individual being recognisable, the subjects are glimpsed rather than exposed, their inner selves hinted at but ultimately inscrutable."

Paul often works on a large, potentially imposing scale, however, the work remains approachable through the fluency of his confident brush marks and a rich palette. The spaces the subjects inhabit are often indeterminate, providing an atmosphere that allows for ambiguity of psychological state. The subjects retain their integrity and yet a powerful sense of intimacy is evoked in the viewer.

Exhibited in galleries worldwide, Paul has exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the BP Portait Award Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London.  His work is in corporate and public art collections including Prudential, Standard Chartered Bank, Accenture, Leicestershire Health Authority, P&O, Rutland County, Texas State University.
